The agony of choosing the right tire

Does this sound familiar?

What tires are probably the right one for my bike ... and for me (my driving style and driving skills)

Basically, we distinguish between what you want because of all:

  • Road driving
  • more tours
  • Ring Drive

Once these issues have been resolved, it is the first step towards "real" tires already made.

There are a lot of tire companies. I will mention by name should be merely examples that have already proven themselves well and were made to their own experience.

Road driving and longer trips:

Do you have high mileage and drive "only" on the road, there are many all-rounder such as:. Bridgestone BT21 or the BT16 (3 rubber compounds provide here for the right grip), Michelin Pilot Road 2 or even the Diablo Strada Pirelli. Also worth noting is the Road Attack. It is cheap and already a top-tire from Continental.

With these tires you are well provided for on the road. They offer you excellent security and also in the rain. For the track you should not take this as the tires where very high temperatures, and thus no longer have the necessary traction (grease away)

Ring Drive:

Well, of course, I would recommend the same time there slicks, but not all of us have tire warmers. So I call here are some examples of the feel good even without tire warmers very well on the road. A very good tire is the Michelin Power Race (medium-soft). He is also really hot asphalt temperatures. Has also approved a road, making it ideal for a trip to the track. In addition, Pirelli has also to offer an extremely good all-rounders: the Diablo Super Corsa (SBK-WM tires). At Bridgestone, we find the BT003 just for bikes that are not necessarily adapted specifically for the ideal ring. Metzeler Racetac should also be mentioned here, we do not forget, because it is similar to the Pirelli. However, caution on very hot days of racing. This he does, unfortunately, not so good. Dunlop D209GP Racer is used in the Yamaha R6 Cup. And also the ContiRaceAttack I would like to mention absolutely. The Super Duke swear by it. A real newbie with lots of potential!

If you dare something of first attempts at the race track and not like an extra set of buy tires for it to, then I can also say a few recommendations: Pilot Power Race (medium) by Michelin, Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pro SC3 and, furthermore, the BT002 Racing Street Bridgestone. There would be then the Qualifier RR of Dunlop, but here are my experiences this is not the best.

Detailed information on the listed tires you get on the Internet at the tire manufacturer or your retailer. Never forget there first to be aware of where you want to go with the tires. Especially the dealer has a lot of information and experience on specific tires.

Want to know more, there simply look into the forum. There are always current exchange opinions among themselves.
